It appears that the beginning of each year is the best time to get rid of old habits and replace them with new ones, which we hope will make us thinner/ healthier/fitter/ smarter/more organised/…(insert your own)…
New Year, new me…kind of thing.
Suddenly, most of us feel empowered and motivated to start a new diet, exercising, saving money…It’s our chance to start fresh – like a new baby. We join the gym (again), we stop eating sugar (again), we start daily morning yoga routine…And then, sometimes around this time of the year, we realise the whole “New Year, new me” didn’t last long. We’re back to our old routines and old habits…
According to research, 25% of New Year resolutions are abandoned within 4 months. On top of that, statistics show that only 9.2 percent of people ever achieve their New Year’s resolutions and break free from their bad habits! The average person makes the same resolution 10 years in a row and…fails. Remember what is the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing and expecting different results!
Believe it or not, we all live in a safe comfort zone where we scripted our life with our subconscious mind. The subconscious mind acts as a recording tape that repeats the same song/story over and over again. Our subconscious mind formed beliefs and patterns in our childhood between the age of newborn to 12. We might be telling ourselves all day long that we want something different from our past but, in vain, our history plays back by default, and we get the same results.
Our mind is the most advanced, most brilliant biocomputer. Our subconscious mind is the program that runs it. However, as I said earlier it runs on the patterns and beliefs that were formed when you were a child. You are an adult whose beliefs about himself/herself might be 30, 40 years old! Those outdated, incorrect beliefs run your life today! That’s a scary thing, isn’t it?
Why Hypnotherapy is a game-changer.
Because it is profound, impactful, quick, and nothing to be scared of!
Contrary to popular belief, hypnosis is not “mind control” or a form of sleep. It is a deeply relaxed yet focused state of awareness. It is a totally natural state of selective, focused attention. Hypnosis isn’t something that’s done to you – instead, it’s triggering a process that happens inside you all the time. In fact, you’ve probably experienced it without realizing what it was. Have you ever been driving, then realized that you don’t remember the last five km? Have you ever been totally wrapped up in a book and lost track of time? That’s the result of your brain entering a hypnotic state as part of its routine maintenance.
During hypnosis, nature’s inbuilt programming state, you (not the hypnotherapist) can change the old story playing in your subconscious mind and by doing so change limiting beliefs and fix unhelpful patterns.
Losing weight is consistently at the top of most people’s New Year resolutions lists. If only they knew that hypnotherapy can help!
Even though regrettably there is not an incredible amount of studies done on weight loss and hypnotherapy at the moment, the studies that are there show people who used hypnosis lost more than twice as much weight as those who dieted without the therapy. A study in International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis found women who underwent hypnobehavioral therapy lost weight, improved their eating habits, and improved their body image. Meanwhile, a meta-analysis by British researchers found hypnosis can actually help regulate the release of peptides that control how hungry and full you feel.
